SAHWA Scientific Paper on migration
Wednesday 05 April 2017, Kamel Boucherf and Hassen Souaber
Entitled “The impact of socioeconomic conditions on the perception of migration issues among young people”, this policy paper was written and coordinated by Kamel Boucherf and Hassen Souaber from the Centre de Recherche en Economie Appliquée pour le Développement (CREAD).
This paper aims to analyse the effect of young people’s socioeconomic conditions on their view of emigration. The approach follows the pull and push factor theories of migration, and aims to understand what pushes young people towards the migration imaginary and consequently what may attract them to the destination countries.
